More Refashions

So this is a picture of ONE of Jeremy's old work shirts.
Picture this in a few different colors and styles.
These are what I have been using to make McKinley
and I a new wardrobe.
This particular shirt was turned into one of
the skirts pictured below.
This really is not a great picture.
They are two calf length knit skirts that
I will probably wear a lot during the summer.
They are super comfy.

This is an adorable bubble skirt that I made for Kinley.
Again made out of one of Daddy's shirts.
This is how it looks on her.
I am in love!

Thanks for the "know how" Megan!
She shared her mad sewing skills with me
so I whipped this up in like 30 minutes.

Another Skirt Refashion

See the long skirt on the left?
I refashioned it....

Into this cute short skirt!
I love it!

This is a closer picture of the detail.

When I start making a project it never really turns out how I envisioned it in the beginning but I usually end up liking the end result so that is good. The ruffle on this skirt was make out of one of my husband's old work shirts. I make A LOT of stuff out of his old shirts. I cut strips from the back side of it and sewed three of them together. Then I gathered and sewed it to the denim. I thought it still needed more so I dug some lace out of the bag-o-tricks, doubled it to look thicker and sewed it on too! I LOVE this skirt now and can't wait to wear it to church with my new shirt that will match perfectly!!!

Easter Egg Wreaths!

McKinley and I made these cute easter crafts the other day.
We had so much fun!
We made two for our house and the other two for friends.

This is a close up of the one hanging inside our house.
I really love it!
Inexpensive and fun!

So Sleepy

How does he sleep like that?
I know that can't be comfortable.

Look close at his ear.
Wonder Mom here didn't put sunblock on him
so his ear blistered and popped when he was playing.
Poor boy. Lesson learned....use sunblock!

Sleep tight sweet boy.

Little Mother Hen

I tend this adorable little boy. He came to our house two days ago and ended up getting really sick. This is Kinley helping me out! He was so sick he just wanted to be held all day long. When I had to put him down to help the other kids Miss Mother Hen would step in! She actually got him to go to sleep in this position. So sweet.

I am really impressed with the natural motherly instinct that McKinley already has in her. She seems to know how to console babies pretty quickly and easily. Today the baby pictured got a hold of a thick plastic beach bag. Without even being told Kinley knew it was something he should not have so she kindly took it away from him and gave him something else to play with. She is so smart and my best little helper!

Easter Crafts

Egg shaped rice crispies!

Cute doggies out of plastic easter eggs!

Adorable pigs out of plastic easter eggs!

It was my turn to teach our little joy school again last week so we did fun easter stuff! They made cute easter eggs and decorated easter pencils then I sent all the kids home with an easter egg animal. My kids and I had so much fun making these animals. I thought they were adorable. There were lots more on the website but it was too late to try them all, maybe another day.

TREATS!!!

A sweet family in our ward had a yard/bake sale last weekend. The father of a young family was recently diagnosed with cancer and cannot work so they did a fund raiser. These are the treats I donated. They were simple treats for me and my kids to make together. We had fun and helped someone out in the meantime!

Lilacs=Grandma

How beautiful are these?!

A few years ago I was surprised to notice a lilac bush in my back yard. You see lilacs remind me of my Grandma Callister. Now I get a daily reminder of her each spring as my flowers grow!

My Grandma has been passed away for over 15 years now but the smell of lilacs takes me right back to her. She used to have a beautiful lilac bush outside her front door. I loved the spring because it would blossom and fill the air with it's light, fresh scent. I remember smelling them ever time I went to visit her.

I miss you Grandma. Some day we will be together again!
